This morning we went with the Master to the wellspring. It had snowed during the night. The sky was clear now, but some snowflakes were still falling. They shined like diamonds and made the air even more refreshing. A gentle breeze was blowing like a gentle caress. When we reached the small peak above the wellspring, we gathered around the Master. One of the brothers said, "Master tell us something about freedom."

The Master looked for a long time at the vista in front of us, he was gladdened by the bright sunlight. He was breathing in the fresh air with concentration as if he was tasting Life itself. Then he looked at us and said:

"Freedom can exist only where God is. If a man thinks in the way in which God thinks, he is free. Only he who is perfect is free. The only perfect Being is God. In the absolute meaning of the word, 'free' only means God. Therefore, away from God, you cannot be free. Away from God, there is no Life. Free is the one who serves God. If you search for freedom, serve God!

"He who serves people is not free. Neither is the one who is served by people. To discover the Law of Love is to find your freedom. Freedom does not come before Love. This is the mistake of many people. We wish to be free before we begin to love. Freedom comes as a result of Love. The love which does not make a man free is not Love.

 "If you wish to be strong allow God's Love to manifest through you. Love makes man his own master. You people are influenced by dark forces. You do things which you do not wish to do. This indicates that you are influenced. The Invisible World comes now to free you from this influence. You must become the masters of these circumstances. Do not permit beings who stand beneath you to give you orders. In order for one to liberate himself from those lower beings, he must have Love. The moment one comes to know Love, every crime, every transgression will vanish. Therefore, until people come to know Love transgression and crimes will exist.

"He who cannot cope with his karma and subjects himself to it is not free. Only the Love of God dissolves karma. Karma is a heavy, sticky mud which is hard to wash away. Only Love can make it disappear. Human karma can be eliminated only through Love, that is to say: the Love of God. Your living conditions will improve when you lay down Love as the foundation of your life. In the Life of Love, there is no karma.

"Two laws exist: the law of karma and the Law of dharma. One enters the Law of dharma through love. Everyone can try this: if you have love in your heart, even the biggest snake that comes across your path will yield to your way and will not harm you.

"The son receives his allotment when he comes of age. As the relationship of the father is toward his sons, so it is it of Nature toward humankind. At present man is in his age of infancy and lives according the law of necessity. When he reaches adulthood, he will live according the Law of Freedom."
