In another conversation the Master said:

"Modern man still lives with the delusion that he is waiting for love from another. Open your hearts to God for His Love, and then people also will love you. They are the multitude through whom God manifests Himself. Therefore, in order to come to understand people, you must first come to know the One. This means that in order to be able to understand the multitude, you first need to understand the Oneness. I, too, come close to you through Him - God.

"When people do not understand you, it indicates that you, too, are not understanding God. When people doubt you, it shows that you, too, are doubting God. Whatever your relationship to God is, such will be people's relationship to you.

"The following two Laws exist. The first one states: when people love you, it indicates that you love God. The second Law states: when you love people it indicates that God loves you. Here we need to give a little explanation. When I say that God loves you - this should be understood in a different meaning: God's Love for you is unchangeable; yet by the expression 'God loves you,' it is to be understood that you are receptive to His Love. Thus, the relationship of others towards you depends upon your relationship to God. When your relationship to God is correct, all people relate well to you. If you love people, it indicates that you have perceived the Love of God properly in its fullness.

"You can become acquainted with a family in two ways: either by loving the children - then the father will start to love you; or by loving the father - then the children will start to love you. When you befriend the children - when you are helpful to them - the father will be interested in you. I give the interpretation: your neighbors - these are God's children. When you are helpful to your neighbors, God's children, you are connected with God."
