THE WELLSPRING

Not far from the village there was a wellspring. Its plentiful waters just meandered away. The waters were warm, soft and flavorful. The Master found it excellent, drank from it alone and recommended it to everyone. There were some nice meadows on the sapling-covered slopes surrounding the spring. We often went there with the Master. The countryside was unpretentious and pleasant. The grass was growing; the leaves on the trees were unfurling; the flowers were blooming each in its time. The birds sang, and life pulsated with its measured and steady rhythm.

The Master's thoughts were a translation of the Great Book of Nature. Within Her the One Eternal Rhythm of the One Life was made known.

 The Master said:

"That which causes man to rejoice the most is God. Everything that inspires you is God. That which gives you vitality, encouragement and strength in every moment is God. God is present in all of this.

"An Idea of Supreme Intelligence can only be born out of the communication of two Intelligent Beings. This is the Law.

"We need to bond with God in order that an intelligent idea may arise within us. All thoughts which flow through the mind, all feelings and desires which flow through the heart come from a great wellspring.

This wellspring is the soul. The wellspring of the soul is fed by a yet greater Wellspring. This is the Divine Spirit. The Wellspring of the Divine Spirit is fed by a still greater Wellspring which is the Absolute Unknown: the Spirit of Creation.

"Every Thought which brings the sap of Love to the human soul comes from God. Every Thought which brings the Light of Wisdom comes from God. Every Thought which brings the freedom of Truth to the human soul comes from God.

"Everything which does not come from God carries with itself poison and death. This is the reason why everyone who does not receive the Divine Idea experiences suffering and death. God's Love is manifested through all the Angels - through all Evolved Beings - but in a different way. Love, therefore, comes from one Source, from one Center.

"If you wish to go where Love is, you must go to the Eternal Wellspring: to God. We cannot come to understand Love apart from God.

"You are a door through which God enters to teach you how to love. He is the only One who can show you how to love.

"We must be taught by the One alone. The Scripture says, 'God is our Teacher.' He who permits God to teach him will be dressed in the most beautiful of clothes.

"The life of the one who is in accord with Divine Law is pure poetry, music and song. He is brave, resolute and filled with noble and sublime feelings. Once a man parts with this Law he becomes mistrustful, with concerns about everything: fear for his life, fearful that old age is coming and that he lacks sufficient resources, etc.

"Pay attention to the least impulses. The small thoughts and feelings which manifest through you - these come from God.

"Where is God? God is in all those places where one finds Love, Wisdom, Truth, Life, Knowledge and Freedom. His Presence gives us the most beautiful experience of the spirit. It refreshes us and uplifts us.

"Some people say, 'Let God set the world right.' By writing in man's heart, God has put the world to order. What is now needed is for the Word within man to come out."
