1. Asparukh: Seventh-century khan of the Dulo Dynasty who established Bulgaria as a state of the Alliance of Slavic tribes.
2. Banitsa: A traditional Bulgarian pastry filled with feta cheese and eggs.
3. Bogomils: An ascetic spiritual movement arising in tenth-century Bulgaria. They were persecuted as heretics by both the Eastern Orthodox and Byzantine Churches. As a result, many moved to France where they strongly influenced the Catharist, and eventually, the Reformation movements. Bogomil means "dear to God".
4. Dharma: That work of love and self-sacrifice which man performs on behalf of his brother in accordance with the Divine Law of Righteousness.
5. Ether: That sublime element which permeates the whole Cosmos.
6. Gaida: Bulgarian folk instrument similar to the bagpipes and commonly made ofkidskin.
7. Great White Brotherhood: Divine Organization of Enlightened Beings who - in perfect accordance with the Divine Law of Righteousness serve humankind in its evolution as Bearers of Light and Love. Note well: "White" represents Divine Light (not race), and so - in some sources - the great White Brotherhood is referred to as the "Universal Brotherhood of Light" or the "Brotherhood of Light and Love". The Enlightened Beings of the Brotherhood (who are called the "White Brothers" or the "Great Souls") are male and female. Hence the term "Brotherhood" is used to denote family and community (not gender).
8. Gudoulka: An ancient, bowed stringed instrument also known as the rebec.
9. Horo: A traditional Bulgarian circle dance.
10. Hotantsa: The village in Bulgaria where Peter Dunov was employed as a schoolteacher upon his graduation from the American College of Science and Theology in 1888. It was here that he composed his first song, "For the King of Heaven".
11. The Inner Bliznak: The southern part of the lake known as "The Twins" which is the fourth of the Seven Lakes of the Rila Mountains.
12. Intelligent Beings: "Razumni Sushtestva." Beings of Light whose Consciousness is one with God's and fulfill His Will by helping humankind along the evolutionary path.
13. Intelligent Nature: That Principle through which the One Consciousness is made Manifest in all things throughout the Physical World.
14. Izgrev: The community in Sofia, Bulgaria which was established by the disciples of the Master in 1922. Izgrev means "the Rising Sun".
15. Kali Yuga: The Sanskrit term for the period of darkness and destruction which humankind is now leaving.
16. Karakachani: Nomadic clan of the Rhodopes Mountains who are known for raising Karakul sheep.
17. Karma: The consequences of one's actions as expressed in the Scriptures, "As ye sow, so shall ye reap." The Master spoke specifically of the negative consequences of actions which are harmful to oneself or others.
18. Kaval: A wooden flute which is also known by the name "shepherd's pipe".
19. Kronshtadski: The Russian Orthodox priest who was known loan (1829-1908) for his compassion, eloquence and gift of healing.
20. Lev (pl. leva): Bulgarian currency equaling 100 stotinki.
21. Mahabur: The name given by the Master to lake "Bubreka" ("The Kidney" Lake), the fifth of the Seven Lakes in the Rila Mountains.A Photo is available
22. Man: Term used by the Master to denote an individual (male or female) of the human race.
23. Master: A name of respect and reverence used by disciples when addressing their spiritual Teacher.
24. Murchaevo: A village situated southwest of Sofia in the Vitosha Mountains where the Master stayed with many of his disciples in 1944.
25. Mussala : At 2925 meters, Mussala is the highest peak in the Rila Mountains. Mussala means, "Mount of God".
26. Njuks: The fragrance of the Angels.
27. Occult school: School instituted by the Master for his disciples in which classes were given in the hidden Knowledge. This included Divine Science and its applications.
28. Ostritsa: A peak in the Vitosha Mountains near the village of Murchaevo.
29. Paneurhythmy: Divine Cosmic Rhythm. A system of meditative movement set to music introduced by the Master and performed in the open air each morning during the spring and summer months as a method of balancing the physical, mental and spiritual forces in man in accordance with the Divine Principle of Harmony.
30. Prana: Sanskrit for life force.
31. Race of Love: The Master referred to the human race in its present stage of evolution as the "fifth race". He taught that in the next evolutionary stage a "sixth race" or "race of Love" will emerge. Through Divine Love, the consciousness of man will awaken and the Kingdom of God which is always within will be made Manifest on Earth. The race of Love is so named because individual man will become conscious of his eternal and integral connection with God and neighbor - and so awakened - he will dwell among his brothers and sisters in a new World - a new Culture - of Love, mutual aid and self-sacrifice. This is the Culture of the new Earth of which the Scriptures promise, "And death shall be no more; neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."
32. The Rhodopes: Mountain range of southern Bulgaria. Orpheus is said to have been born here.
33. Rila: The highest mountain of the Balkan Peninsula where the Master brought his followers for summer spiritual retreats in the region of the Seven Lakes. This tradition has been reinsti-tuted in recent years and thousands of people from all over the world gather here each summer to pray, perform Paneurhythmy and study.
34. Rupite: Name given by the Master to a part of the northwestern region of the Rila Mountains. A Photo is available.
35. Sliven: Town of eastern Bulgaria where many of the Master's followers gathered.
36. Stambolov, Stoilov, Stojanovich, Karavelov: Diplomats of the recent Bulgarian history.
37. Stotinka: Bulgarian currency equal to one hundred of a (pi. stotinki) lev.
38. Thousand-petalled Lotus: The crown chakra; that energy center which is located just above the head and is not yet fully-developed in most human beings.
39. Traki(Thracians): Ancient nomadic people of Thrace who are believed to have migrated to Bulgaria from the North in about 3000 BC
40. Varna: City on the Black Sea where Peter Dunov lived from 1895-1899.
41. Veliko Turnovo: Town in the Balkan Mountains (capital of ancient Bulgaria) where the annual meetings of the Master's disciples were held during the period of 1900-1925. The days for these meetings were chosen to coincide with those times when the Enlightened Beings of the Great White Brotherhood were convening and transmitting their Light and Love to humankind.
42. Vitosha: Mountain: of volcanic origin situated near Sofia, Bulgaria.
43. Zigov Chark: A picturesque terrain and a contemporary resort in the Rhodope Mountains.
44. The Great Concert: The talks presented in "The Wellspring of Good" as well as the sermons collected in "The Testament of Love" ("Zavetut na Ljubovta": three volumes of the last lectures of the Master, published 1944) are the final part of the Great Concert. In them, the Master casts a final glance upon the path that has been completed. He summarizes, reevaluates and sheds light upon the Word he has received and shared. He reviews and explains anew everything that he had revealed, pinpointing the most essential ideas. He gives his last advice to his disciples. The talks in "The Wellspring of Good" - in fact, the entire Word of the Master - reflect the perfect World from which he came and the pure and sacred Life toward which he leads us. This Life is coming now for all human beings.
45. Kissing the hand: The kissing of the hand is a Bulgarian tradition to express respect toward the elder people and religious figures. Kissing the hand of the Master expresses not only a sign of respect of his age but also a reverence of a student toward his Teacher and the estabi ishment of a contact with the Divine.
46. "The Eternal Blessing" ("Vechnoto Blago"): Collection of lectures for the general public as well as talks given in the occult school by the Master. Published in 1943.
