Thus, the talks that are given to you in the occult School should be studied in a specific way, but not only to be read. Everyone should extract for oneself the most important paragraphs of each lecture and talk, and to apply them in one’s own life. Knowledge without practice is not knowledge at all. In the same way, you should read and study the Bible. Some of you will stop at one paragraph, another will stop at other paragraph, either from the Old or New Testament, and from there one draws a lesson for some hardship, or encourages oneself from some moral deed. In this way you could also read some eminent authors. If you don’t read the talks, the Bible or any other book in this way, they will seem routine to you, then you will search for some entertainment, but the entertainment is not a science. Everybody should work to obtain concentration in their thought

I would like for you to examine the examples that I have given in the talks, because there is a great law within each example, a great method that people could work with for their perfection. Anything else could disappear, but the examples would never disappear because they exist in the animate nature.

As disciples of this School, you have much theoretical knowledge, but you have to put it into practice. Through practice you are going to form good habits that are necessary for sustaining of high and jovial spirits. The occult student should manifest one’s faith, patience and moderation during the greatest hardships. No matter what difficulty occurs to oneself, one should say: “This problem will be settled, I will study this issue even if many years pass from now”. This means a strong disciple. The strong disciple never loses the presence of mind. One does not postpone the issue for the distant future, but one is working and examining each issue, because one knows that the future is now, today. If you study and work you will be good, excellent disciples at present and for the future. The animate nature is always of service to the good disciples. Be zealous in your teaching and pass on that zeal to the others!
